Born and raised in Hong Kong. Moved to England when I was 13 and lived there until 23 (Cheltenham, Derby, Durham, Cambridge). Spent 2 months in Philippines in 2001 coral reef surveying and 5 months in Africa in 2003 competing in the inaugural Tour d'Afrique cycle race from Cairo to Cape Town. Started work in 2003 as an accountant. In 2006 I moved to New Zealand to work for 2 years. I have currently just moved to Bermuda on a 2 year contract. My parents currently reside in Ireland.
Originally I was a swimmer who dabbled in rugby and football. At 16, I switched to water polo, captaining my school and then my university and also playing in the national league in GB. In 2001, I entered my first sprint triathlon on a mountain bike and with no kit (football shorts and t-shirt). Since then every year I take slightly more seriously. Highlights of races that I've competed in:
- London Triathlon, UK
- Trentham Half Ironman, UK
- Irish National Age Group Championships (Galway), Ireland
- Dublin Triathlon, Ireland
