8-week sprint training program

by melicharlie on May 23rd, 2009
I've been training on my own for about 5 months now and am confident about completing my first sprint tri in 8 weeks. Given that this is my first time though, I would like to get into a good training rhythm as the event gets closer but I can't find a sprint program that is built for a non-entry level person. Any tips?

Training when time is short (or nonexistant)

by amorelli on May 19th, 2009
Wondering if any veterans have suggestions for this - I have finals this week at college and have barely set foot outside of my room except to take exams. I know that part of the reason is that I let myself get behind in classes somewhat, so maybe just generally being on top of everything is a prerequisite for getting your training in, but I haven't done any in a week now. Tapering

by Workerant47 on May 19th, 2009
How much time do you give to tapering before a race? I've read as much as 5 weeks for the bike, 4 for the run, and 3 for the swim. Is that too much or is it really dependent on the distance of the race? In my case, it's a HIM - 2 actually.

Polar and Garmin

by hardie_peter on May 6th, 2009
I plan to use a polar in the gym and pool and a garmin on the road. However I do not have an application that combines both workouts. Sporttracks doesn't work on my MAC so i can't see if that works. Does anyone have any ideas.

Training question

by michiels on May 6th, 2009
Hi, Due to closeness to venues (olympic pool 5 min from home and work) and weather where I live, I have been training 6 days a week, 2 sports per day, (except on sunday where I only train 1 sport and I rest monday). I bike 4 times a week, run 4 times a week and swim 3 times a week. I am wondering if I should swim 4 times a week and maybe run only 3.

Better Training Results by warming up harder?

by cjhoffmn on May 2nd, 2009
I have a small sample of some of my data that might indicate that I put in a harder training workout at a lower RPE if I warm up a bit harder. Anyone else observe something similar? Before I go do the deep dive on the data, I'm curious if others have seen.
