Dumb trainer / tires question
by groovyjen on April 14th, 2009
So trainers eat tires. How do you manage this logistically? Do you have a spare wheel with a sturdy tire? Just accept a certain level of tire damage and rotate out frequently?
Surely you guys aren't swapping out tires before each trainer ride?
This is all pretty new to me, so thanks.

Bored on the trainer (duhhh)
by Gsal on February 9th, 2009
I know that there are a bunch of fellow trifuelers who get bored out of their mind on the trainer. I never think about quitting when i'm on the trainer because i know its neccesary for my training, but i would like to hear some good workouts that some people use on the trainer.

Friendly Debate on Winter Riding: Mag Trainer, Rim-Drive Trainer, Rolllers, or Frostbite
by oswa0060 on October 31st, 2008
For all those of you who face a snowy winter like me, what do you prefer to do in the winter for riding?
1. Use a Mag Trainer
2. Use a Rim-Drive Trainer
3. Use Rollers
4. Brave the cold and learn the joys of frostbike... Wait, frostbite.

Power on Trainer Vs the Road
by cjhoffmn on April 28th, 2008
I've been riding almost exclusively on my Trainer since January and added a PowerTap in March. I've been dutifully collecting and analyzing my data since I added the PT and can certainly see how helpful its going to be in changing my workouts.
Indoor Trainer Noise and a Wheel Cover
by cjhoffmn on January 11th, 2008
In a thinly veiled attempt to rationalize buying a cover for my rear wheel, I throw this question out:
Does the majority of the noise relating to using a trainer relate to the spokes cutting through the air? Does it make it quieter to by a set of covers for my rear wheel *just* to cut down on the noise?
Tension on Kinetic Trainer
by cjhoffmn on January 8th, 2008
Have now about 8 rides in on my Kurt Kinetic Road Machine. Really enjoying having it in the house etc, love the pain, you know the drill.
Question is: How much tension do I ideally want on the back tire? Seems to me you want basically enough tension so the wheel doesn't slip when you pedal, but more is probably just deforming your tire.
Kurt Kinetic Vibrations
by Autarkis on January 7th, 2008
I recently bought a Kurt Kinetic Pro trainer. I found that at higher speeds I can feel vibrations. Upon closer inspection, I found that the 6.25 lbs fly wheel wobbles since it isn't completely straight.
This is my first trainer so I'm wondering if this vibration is to be expected? Any feed back would be apreciated. Thank you.
