Help! Please rate my training progression

by JoshSloane on November 9th, 2009
I am relatively new to triathlon, came from play lacrosse and football. I began training for Ironman Coeur d' alene five months ago using an online training guide. I have progressed to the point where I can swim around 3,500 yards, Bike up to 70-80 miles and run 13-14 miles. I know this might sound ridiculous but is this good so far after five months of training with 7 months to go till IMCD?

Speed work and weight training

by IthinkIcan on October 14th, 2009
I'm starting to think about my goals for 2010 and decided speed is a priority. Can anyone speak to the value of weight training to become a faster runner? Suggestions on the quickest way to get fast would be great. Lofty goal of going from a 4:10 marathon to a sub 3:10 marathon by say, sept/Oct of 2010.

Extending my running distance

by JohnB on September 10th, 2009
I have been participating in sprint triathlons for the last two years. I want to train for a half ironman next summer. I won’t have any problem doing the swim and the bike. I can go those distances now. My problem is the running. I don’t have a problem running the 3 miles for the sprint. I consistently finish the 3.1/5K run of the triathlon between 25 and 26 minutes.

5k in SF tomorrow morning!

by amityy on August 29th, 2009
I've got a 5k run in SF tomorrow, mostly flat, mostly asphalt, total of probably about 200 competitors. I'm on my school's cross country team, and my coach expects a time around 20 minutes or a bit faster. I ran 5 miles early this morning, not too hard, and I usually run 7-8 every day throughout the week.

Workouts

by Amish on June 22nd, 2009
Question: has there ever been a thread where people just post workouts they do for the benefit of other people looking for suggestions on a workout? I propose we use a thread to just write down suggestions or previous work outs with whatever information you want to provide!

by cjhoffmn on May 5th, 2009
I entered a relatively lengthy post over on my SBR blog. I'm just starting to post to it and thought I'd see is works for the tri-personal-achievement type entries. I'd like to share with Trifuel though - this site is responsible for a good deal of my progress! Enjoy: Squish Bonk OMG I Can rrruuunnnnNM
