Sleep Schedule
by TRI4MORE on October 12th, 2009
I was wondering if anyone had information or advice for adapting training to a unique sleep schedule? I work from 1am - 10am and generally sleep from 12pm - 3pm and then from 8pm - 12am. I have found that my recovery time is worse then when i was able to sleep in 8hr blocks. Any advice on how to adapt training sessions is appreciated. -Thanks
Your Ironman is Over; What About Life As You Know It?
by Patrick McCrann on July 3rd, 2009
Fast forward to Tuesday or Wednesday after your Ironman. It's very likely that you're sitting on the couch, with your shattered legs on the coffee table, scratching your sunburned head as you try to remember your dog's name--which you've forgotten--because all you've thought about for the past 6-9 months is Ironman.
Knee Care for Running
by Workerant47 on March 7th, 2009
I'm wondering what I can do to help my knees out while I'm training for a HIM this summer. I do elevate, I do stretch but I don't ice and I don't have recovery compression socks. I'm wondering what I can do to maintain the health of my knees not only for teh race but long term. Any suggestions?
Scared to Restart

On the first weekend of this past semester, (September) I completed my first HIM. It was great, and I had a great time, but I hurt my back which killed my off-season training. I slept on the ground, took lots of pain killers, saw a therapist, did lots of stretching and had a miserable first half of an off-season. It got so bad, I quit reading posts on this forum.
Recovery from Surgery... any advice?
by StephenPDennis on June 4th, 2008
Ahhh! Like an absolute fool I had to go and injure myself this past weekend. After a day or two of living with it, it now looks like I may even have to get corrective surgery and of course my first question to the surgeon was "But doctor... can I run?"

Triathlons Following Brain Surgery
by Bondy on May 4th, 2008
After a 12 hour operation to remove a benign (not cancerous) tumour the size of a tennis ball on Dec 14 2007 and 6 weeks of preventative radiotherapy, David Bond a.k.a Bondy is competing in the Monaco Ironman for Charity.
Although competing for charity, Bondy is not just there to make up the numbers. All systems are go on the training front, and radiotherapy has not slowed him at all.
The best antioxidant?
by dave12 on April 15th, 2008
I am very interested in the role antioxidants play in recovery. My wife (a biologist) got me on a natural supplement that, I have to say, has really started giving me better recovery during training. Thoughts on this topic?

Late Night Post Workout Nutrition
by jbird2131 on February 17th, 2008
Like many trifuelers, on occasion I have to schedule my workouts at odd hours. Sometimes they can be late at night. Last night I did 60 minutes on the treadmill followed by 45 minutes on the trainer. By the time I finished it was close to 11:30. I had already eaten dinner at about 6:00 PM and had a peanut butter Clif Builder Bar (about 290 calories) before i began my workout at about 8:30 PM.
1 week recovery?
by vats on December 4th, 2007
After finishing my first tri season I am going to be back for more :) . I signed up for the NYC triathlon on July 20th and was wondering if I could do a sprint race I did this past summer a week before the big race on the 13th. The NYC will be the biggest race I will have ever done and I don't wanna mess it up.

The miles were ticking away quickly as the brisk wind pushed us all the way back home. My fellow cyclist asks, “What are some good foods to eat after a hard five hour ride like today?”
