Training for Ironman, by doing a marathon?

by Carlos Mx on October 19th, 2008
I am planning my next season, ending with my first Ironman Cozumel in November. Since running is my weak spot, I was wondering if I should plan a late spring marathon (San Diego). I have read so many different opinions on the subject, that I do not know if it is a good idea. What would you suggest?

What a Saturday! (Kona Update)

by zagfan on October 11th, 2008
This has to be one of the best sports days of the year. Not only do we have the Ironman Championship all day, but what a game at the Red River Shootout, Sox/Rays later on, LSU/Florida on tonight and then my Boise State Broncos are actually on TV! And its currently raining so there is absolutely no reason to go outside...okay, so I had to make a beer run :). "Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever." Lance Armstrong

Fat to Fit

by Matt Lieto on October 11th, 2008
I am sitting on a plane on the way to Kailua Kona, Hawaii, where I will be competing in the 2008 Ironman World Championship. Living in Bend, Oregon suggests that I get to Kona 2 weeks early to get acclimated to the heat and humidity not to mention that it will allow me to spend some quality time with my brother and some friends who are also doing the race.

Essential gear for an Ironman

by sasquatch on October 3rd, 2008
I am signed up for IM Canada next year and was wondering what gear everyone thinks is essential for an Ironman race(not looking for bare minimum's, but what everyone bring as their essential gear). Even the obvious is nice to hear, just in case it gets overlooked. Thanks, Todd

What is the ironman five day stay requirement?

by sasquatch on September 17th, 2008
I just got registered for IMC (my first) and keep seeing references to a required 5 night stay for the Ironman events. Can anyone explain this? I know you have to be there a certain number of days in advance, but I thought registration was two days before the event. I will be traveling down from Alaska, so want to make sure I have all of my ducks in a row. Thanks, Todd

Possible to race 2 IM's in one month?

by tri@thlete on September 17th, 2008
Hi All - Anyone have experience doing multiple IM's in one year? I, somehow, got a spot in IM DE (Frankfurt) on July 5 and IMLP on July 26. I'm really set on IMLP, but a piece of me wants to do both. Think it's possible?
