With all the buzz today about Ironman banning compression socks, I went looking for alternatives. As it happens, an old buddy of mine from MTBR days recently started a company called Rocktape.

Ironman Energy

A few questions:
It is my understanding that the average Ironman competitor completes the race while burning about 1000 calories an hour, so for a 13 hour IM, about 13000 calories.
Does that mean that you have to put in just as much as you burned? how is that even close to possible?
Youngest Ironman?

So I signed up for the Lake Placid Ironman, July 25th 2010.
First off, it's amazing how many people are willing to spend 550$ to experience so much pain (and even more joy and euphoria), especially in this recession.
Ok, getting to the point, this race is actually one day after my 18th birthday.

International race created a few add'l challenges. First of all--don't Fly Lufthansa unless you want to pay $200 each way for your bike. British Airways would have cost me $0.
Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
smokin' fast women!!

Wow... at Challenge Roth Chrissie Wellington destroyed the ironman women's record! 8:31:59!!! The previous record (on the same course, last year) was 8:45:48, and before that it had been 8:50:24 and from 1994. And just as awesome was seeing that Rebekah Keat made up some time on Chrissie during the run!
