Wide single reverse strap and heel loop for easy entry. Comfortable perforated leather and vented mesh upper gives ample ventilation and durability. Stiff carbon injected sole is very stiff for optimal power transfer without being scratch happy and slick on pedal bodies like full carbon soles. Very comfortable without socks.
Cons:
I personally love this shoe, but some people might find;
Limited color choice. (This matters for some)
White shoe can get dirty pretty fast if not cleaned regularly.
The heel and toe traction pads are not replaceable.
Might be overly ventilated for those who train in cold climates. (But triathlon isn't really a winter sport.....yet!)
I've owned several Tri-specific shoes and these are the best value so far!
They are very comfortable yet durable with the wide single strap, large heel loop, and perforated leather/mesh upper. The carbon injected sole is well vented for drainage and very stiff and quite light without being as slick on pedal bodies while not clipped in, or prone to scratching like a full carbon sole. The lightly padded interior is comfortable riding sockless, even for rides over 5hrs plus on days 100f.
Overall the construction is excellent. Function is, well, functional. And the value for money is hard to beat. These shoes possess the quality of those in much higher price points.
The looks are quite revised when compared to the previous shoes lake has produced. The red accents are quite striking contrasted against the white and gray upper.
The only thing one could wish for would be a dark color combination for those who might prefer it and replaceable traction pads on the sole. But once again, the features this shoe offers are hard to beat at this price point.
The shoe is compatible with all 3 bolt cleat systems. MSRP $145-165.
