Ok, so now that I've checked off the "Ironman" box on my things to do in my life I'm looking for some fun races to do for the remainder of this and next year.

Though Xterra Saipan and the Singapore 70.3 sound like a lot of fun, I'm just wondering about other things out there that aren't as popular/well known....100mile mountain bike rides through the desert, Triathlons in Cuba, Marathons in Iceland, wheelbarrow races in Arkansas, etc.

Suggestions for off-the-beaten path adventures?

Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.

I know there is an Antarctica Marathon. It's probably pretty expensive, but is certainly sounds like something that I would like to do... "The World's Southernmost Marathon".

There is a Hung Over Running race (10K) in MI. Everyone drinks the same amount of drinks the night before at the event party. Race is next morning at 8:00 am.

The Hoodoo 500 ultra bike race. http://www.planetultra.com/Hoodoo500/index.htm

You do need a support vehicle unless you get special permission to try it unassisted. I also think I'd prefer to try it as part of a relay team rather than a solo effort.

I've been looking into the RAGBRAI ride across Iowa (check out my post in cycling). From what I've heard and read, it sounds like a one-week rolling party circus!
