AWESOME! I completed my first tri (a sprint distance) this morning: the Great Lakes Triathlon in Middleville, MI (just south and east of Grand Rapids). The weather was perfect --in the mid- to upper 60's and sunny (humidity was a bit up there though). The water temperature was 82 degrees!
I am happy with my times for the swim and bike (I still have room for improvement there though). The run, well that is another story. I have some major work to do there.
Unofficial times (off of my watch because I have not seen official results posted yet) were:
Swim (1/2 mile): 18:45 (target was sub 22:00)
Bike (18 miles): 58:46 (target was sub 1:05)
Run (4.5): 50:33 (took a lot longer than I anticipated). (Legs felt like steed beams for the 1st two miles on the run) (target was 45:00 --oops!).
All in all, I had fun, am glad I did it, and now need to set my sights on the next one (perhaps Reeds Lake in September). But, I have work to do.
Tribro --thanks for doing such a great job with this site. I check it out just about everyday and the quality of the site, the posts and articles have just been fantastic. To all of you who post (my unofficial "training buddies") thanks to you too. I have learned so much (and will continue to learn from your wisdom and experiences).
