My P2SL has arrived!
Sweet, man!! What are you building it with?

Not fast enough.
Sweet! when you gonna finish the build?
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
If that doesn't keep you motivated during the winter months, I don't know what will. Good luck on the build.
Thanks Guys. It will be a challenge - financially.
Estimates of the components range from $1000 and up.
I will be shopping around for the best choice.

That is great that it showed up. I am actually a little surprised that they didn't give you a bike with components as well. You would think if they gave it to you because you were most in need of a upgrade that you probably would need to upgrade you components as well, not just your frame.
Good luck with the build.

Thx Dan.
It was Cervélo who gave it to me and I guess it is easier to give away stuff you manufacture yourself. To gave away a complete bike, they would have to buy the Shimano components and the Syntace aero bars and the wheels from other companies, increasing their promotional costs.
Anyway, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. heh. I'm a happy camper just having what I got!

Hey Geoff,
I just totaled my bike this weekend, and depending on what happens in the next few weeks, I might have a pretty decent set of 2006 105 stuff laying around as extra that you can have until you replace it with something nicer. The frame and wheels are history, but the groupset looks pretty good (I protected it with my body! :D) That should save at least a few hundred bucks on the build if you're interested.

Nothing to it, but to do it
the new hotness is well hot. congratulations that is extremely cool! what will happen to the your old ride?
Great POC!!!!!!!!!
I bet you can't wait to ride it. Good luck with the component search!!
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
cold weather + new bike = torture!
I just got a P2C for a steal and its just looking me as its getting colder, and colder, and colder... Riding it on the trainer just isn't the same.
anyway congradts! I can't imagine riding an ironman on that bianchi

Thx, Joe.
I have sold the Cramerotti (6:48:00 at IMC)
I am commuting 50k daily on the Bianchi (7:02:00 at IMC)
I still have the MTB - for when the weather gets rough out.
The Bianchi is so versatile - I mounted panniers on it and went camping / touring in Washington State last summer. The dropouts will take 27" wheels too - I have "snow tires" mounted on them right now for commuting.

Oddly enough the Bianchi is very comfortable to me
- the cockpit is "roomy,"
- it's great for for climbing, a triple chain ring up front and
- steel is very forgiving on rough roads. I am sentimental about it too since I recovered it from the city dump in 2003 and rode it in my first IM 3 weeks later. I'm still using the same chain / drive train it had when I found it. Plus, I don't worry about it when I park it somewhere. heh.
I always said the Cramerotti was 15 minutes faster but the Bianchi is an hour more comfortable!

Matt,
Thanks for offering. I like that idea.
Somebody else suggested that to me too - that if I was patient, there might come along some second hand bits I could use.
PM me with what you have in mind, will you?
and thanks for all the good wishes to others who have posted,

Nice frame Geoff.
I'm doing a bit of upgrading to mine and my wife's rides over the holidays this year, so I should have some gently used drivetrain parts (brake levers, probably a crankset) from similar bikes available if you want them.
Geoff -- do you get PMs? I also have some components lying around that I tried to send you a message about.

That would be awesome.
Your generosity is humbly appreciated. All I have that will fit the new bike is a saddle and a pair of old wheels, actually just a rear wheel. I forgot, I left my front wheel on the side of the road at IMC by mistake. heh.
I'll have to work hard to save up for wheels too.
I had a set of tubbies that went with the Cramerotti when I sold it last week. So I'm down to an old R. wheel with a flat spot right now.

Thanks exceedingly generous of you, PJ. Maybe my stocking will have something in it besides lumps of coal this year!
Kylie is sorting out some brakes and a handlebar for me I think,
cranks I don't have. In fact, I have what is in the picture, plus a saddle, my pedals, and a rear wheel.
I thought I was going to have to simply admire it on the wall for some time but maybe.. just maybe..

I have brake calipers and aerobars I'll be sending, but no basebar or brake levers, just to clarify in case some one else has done any upgrades lately and wants to pass along the parts :)

That's what I figured :) And that I'm working on building up a road bike by taking apart an old tri bike, so I am going to take a look and perhaps will have other parts to send along as well. They'd rather be used than sit in my garage and collect dust!
Kylie Donia's Miles of Life --- Powered by MarkyV
This could be the start of something good - ever see Kevin Spacey in "Pay It Forward?"
I'm passing on my old aero bars to a novice triathlete - they won't fit this new frame. Yeah, they are that old.

Hey PoC!
I'm resurrecting this thread because I finally got off my butt and did some work on the bikes this Spring. Anyway, I have the following extra parts if you want 'em for your baby:
1. A pair of the stock brake levers from my 2006 P2SL
2. The stock Cervelo saddle from the same bike--has maybe 100 miles on it.
3. An FSA Gossamer crankset and matching megaexo BB from my wife's Dual. It has 2 seasons or about 4k miles but is still in VG shape. 53/39 with 172.5 crankarm length.
PM me your address if you want any of this stuff.
PJT
PS - Post a list of whatever else you're looking for for the build. I'm betting someone on Trifuel has spare calipers, derailleurs, etc. that they don't want to bother to sell but might want to contribute to a Trifuel-built bike.
LOL, pay it forward meets TriFuel.
POC, if you're still looking for parts I can muster up some that I took off my bike when I upgraded it. PM me with what you need and or I can let you know what I have sitting around collecting dust.

Thanks for thinking of me, guys.
PM on the way.
It will be an interesting bike with bits cobbled together from all sources, but probably a better ride than the Bianchi road bike, certainly from the perspective of riding position anyway.
My saddle & pedals will transfer to the Cervelo.
I can use my bolt-on aero bars by attaching them to any old base bar (don't have, nor a stem.)
I can install an old pair of drops I have for instance and put the bolt-on aerobars on that.
Need a whole drive train: bottom bracket, cranks, chainrings, chain, front & rear derailleurs.
need brakes: I could use the old ones I salvaged from my Peugeot Circa 1980.
Geoff
"Pain doesn't last, chicks dig scars, glory is forever!"
- Shane Falco.

What type of drivetrain are you looking at? I have a lot of stuff laying around - I really haven't thought about it, but I'm willing to let most stuff go for cost of shipping and the rest for very little more for trifuelers. My parents want it out of their garage by the end of this summer and I'm not going to use it for anything for a long time and by then I might as well get newer stuff. *definitely give away for cost of shipping, **probably want money, otherwise its negotiable
I really should do an inventory of parts that I have... I know that I have:
*Ultegra triple 9-speed sti shifters (pretty dinged up with missing dustcaps, but worked fine last time I used them)
*Ultegra 9-speed long cage rear derailleur
*Ultegra front derailleur - triple (31.8 clamp)
*Ultegra bottom bracket, Octalink spline, 68mm shell, 118.5mm spindle - triple
*Ultegra triple crankset 52-42-30 (middle chainring has a broken tooth, but I used it like that for quite a while no big problems)
Ultegra 9-speed 12-25 cassette
*Specialized aluminum drop handlebars 42cm c-c 31.8
*Specialized aluminum stem 31.8, -16/-6/+6/+16 11cm, recommend new bolts
Possibly a chain if I didn't pitch it
**Profile Carbon Jammer Aerobars 31.8
**Deda Clip Black Aerobars 31.8 (missing a bolt)
**Fizik Arione Tri Ti saddle
Maybe a Terry Butterfly saddle
Shimano WH-R540 wheelset (not the best clyde wheels)
*Wheels - Mavic CXP-22 rims, Shimano FH-2200 hub (8-speed) - good sturdy wheelset but you'll need a different rear hub unless you end up running 8-speed -
PM me if you want any of that stuff...
Oooohh, that sounds great! :)
Sorry I missed your reply Carolyn. The board moved too fast for me.
I'm taking this list down to the shop to discuss it with my mechanic to see what will fit my frame.
Very kind of you to think of me. PM on the way.
Geoff

OK POC I know I basically suck... I still have a pile of stuff to mail *sigh*
But here is my promise: Let me know what you still need after you talk to your mechanic and I will ship by the end of this month.
I do have base bars (tri style) if you still are looking for some... and the aerobars and brake calipers I should have mailed months ago, as well as possibly a full 9speed (used but working) drivetrain. Oh and the base bar I think has brake levers.
Again, I am a slacker at getting stuff in the mail, but let me know and I'll ship by the end of the month. Or I will just ship things and you can use what you want and forward on the rest ;)
Kylie Donia's Miles of Life --- Powered by MarkyV
No, no, not at all, Kylie.
I am happy that you even offered.
You might have thought that I didn't need it since I went to Mexico last month but that only delayed the bike assembly more. Besides, who could resist a $97 return air fare, eh?
I'm seeing my mechanic this week and I'll be in touch when I know what the specs are on the bottom bracket, etc. At this point I'm scratching around to find the shipping costs for anything someone might send me, but it will all work out.
The gods must have meant for me to ride the bike or they wouldn't have had Cervelo bless me with it in the first place. Right?
gratefully,
Geoff

Geoff, do you still need anything? Been upgrading my wifes bike, and have some parts kicking around. More lower end tiagra, Sora Let me know.
Ok well just let me know. It is a 9speed ultegra bike that will get more use on your Cervelo than in my garage. I just need to go take it off the old frame :) So it has pretty much everything since I ended up getting my new bike as a complete one.
Kylie Donia's Miles of Life --- Powered by MarkyV
By the looks of it we could build several new bikes with the parts that trifuelers have sitting around. Who wants to ship all extras to a central location where we can meet and build dream bikes for those who can't afford them?
Done at last! Done at last! Done at last!
Okay, okay, here's a picture taken by BBB at Oliver HIM two weeks ago. I rode it the 182kms to get there.
Smooth, stiff, stealthy.

It has arrived
My new P2SL Frame - with seat post and forks has arrived!
Most of you know it was awarded to me at IMC . It has been described as an award to the racer "most in need of a technology upgrade" heh.

My old Bianchi - ridden 3x at IMC.
Flash media of the P2SL
It looks gorgeous.
I love the gray tones with the black forks and post - it is a work of art!
In fact I have assembled the three components and hung it on the wall next to a signed print of Bluenose II - a national icon, perhaps the Cervélo will become a national icon?
I get excited just looking at it.
To Cervélo, thank you so much.
I wish to extend my gratitude and appreciation to all of you at Cervélo from the designers to the promotions team who made this presentation.
I'll keep you informed as the build proceeds.
cheers,
