OK....when I am looking at Kansas 70.3/Branson 70.3 sites and others..I have noticed that it says there are _____ spots available or the limit is _______ spots...or you must qualify for this race. So 3 questions (1) what are these spots and do they fill up and then a random new person cannot just sign up to race? (2) qualify? same as above basically, can I a random new person register for one of these or do I have to have done something before--like a specific race? Or are all of the above specifically for certain groups of people?

I want to register for one of the above races and just wondered.

Thanks

JA

Believe that you can run farther or faster. Believe that you're young enough, old enough, strong enough, and so on to accomplish everything you want to do. Don't let worn out beliefs stop you from moving beyond yourself.

1) yes they cap the size of the races, if slots are available you can register. if the limit is x spots that is the total number of entrants that can compete in the race.
2) Qualify is just that, you have to qualify to get in by competing in another race and posting x-time for the race. For the 70.3 Ironman Series I think the only race you have to qualify is for Clearwater, FL, which serves as the Championships.

Both of the races you ask about appear to be open to the general public for registration right now. Both are qualifiers for Clearwater. Meaning, if you finish the race fast enough, you are eligible to enter the championship race in Clearwater.

some races limit the number of participants
qualifying spots are spots awarded to the top finishers in each age group, the spots qualify them to race in the Ironman 70.3 World Championship race

hope that answers you questions.
