First off: I am in no way affiliated with Kinetic Trainers outside of the consumer/retailer relationship.

I started cycling four years ago and purchased my first (dare I say the word?!) 'indoor' trainer. It was the only one I had ever ridden on so I had nothing to compare it too. From day one it started shredding tires, little nubs would rubb off and eventually wear right through the tire. Not that big a deal but it was a pain to vacuum after every ride in my 'training room'. I had always just assumed that this was how it was and never gave it much thought. A friend of mine who is an avid cycler spent the night a few weeks back on his way from MI to TX and noticed the nubbs all over the wall and asked me what was going on with it. I told him about the trainer and he jumped on my bike and spun for a couple minutes and immediately said, "Thats not how its supposed to be." After him telling me it was wrong I did then notice that it wasnt 'fluid' like it was supposed to be, being under the rug as I was for the last three years. I called Kinetic and told them I needed to submit a warranty claim and this is how the conversation went.

"Kinetic, how can I help you?"
Me: "I need to submit a warranty claim please."
"I can help you with that, what model do you have?"
(CadenceGuy relays model #)
"Whats your address?"
(CadenceGuy relays address info)
"Ok, well have a new one to you in two days."
Me: "You dont want to examine the possibly defective one first?" (Is it really that easy?)
"Oh no, we dont do that, well just send you a new one"
Me: "Really?" (In a tone of dis-belief)
"Yea, is there anything else I can help you out with this afternoon Mr. CadenceGuy?"
Me: "No I think that will be it, Thank You so much."

Usually the idea of working a warranty on anything is such a pain but this was the easiest process I have ever had to work with. A phone call and a two minute conversation and I had a new resistance unit in my hands in two days just as she said. Such a good experience!

That's pretty darn good. I've had a few similar experiences with Cateye and Trek/ Wrenchforce, but never on anything of that high dollar amount. Good to know! Maybe I'll give them a look when my $100 mag trainer quits (3 years and going strong so far!)

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I just called and told them I had trouble withe my Cervelo P3 and they told me it would take 4 days to get a new one in my hands. Sheesh, that's TWICE as long as it took you to get your new trainer, so I told them forget it. ;)

I love to see posts like this. I own a Road Machine, and it makes me feel great about my purchase to know they take care of their customers so well.

That's awesome!

Be sure to follow up with us when it arrives; it sounds like you may have inadvertently stepped into some new reality tv pilot episode. Can already see the tag line: "Some guy keeps getting everything he asks for until he cracks."

Ya! Especially since I don't even own a Cervelo!

Seriously though - thanks for posting this. I really enjoy reading about companies that live right!
