long time riding enthushiast but the crowd has always sucked, seemed a bit off and childish in their demeanor and i always knew i was meant for something much better than just dominating that field and so i'm now thinking ironman but that would be many new moons from now so the sprint or the olympic will have to do as my first, not too mention i love to run and it only takes a pair of shoes and i just got back into the water and nearly drowned doing so. :) (not really but it made me feel useless and that's not a good feeling)

this event will be my first triathlon and i'm excited and nervous as hell already.

OT, but +1. I've never trained with a more socially awkward group. They're the little guys that still harbor resentment for being cut from junior football.

Lonestar tri is a great event. I did the 1/2 this year and the 1/4 last year. I think I may do the 1/2 next year too. It's a blast

I don't like group rides either... too stuffy.

That event looks like a great day...lots to do along with a great looking set of races to choose from.

That's too funny. Now that I think of it, most cyclists are little guys. Smaller than me even and my wife keeps reminding me that my 5' 8" frame is below the average height....

Just keep spinning....spinning, spinning....uh, do I know you?

i'm liking the negative and public ridicule of cyclists. i love to ride, don't get me wrong, i can ride and all day (not so easy as it was the first century but i'll get back there pretty soon and i've got running and a bit of swimming to thank for that if that makes sense at all) but not with a group, not that they'd last anyways. :)

Well, this is just me, but I would consider your fuel in the 2nd pic to be some PED's... ;)

Otherwise looks pretty good to go, good lookin bike!

thanks man. i love riding with those bottles and full too, the best riding accessory that i've added so far.

there's a bit of a story that comes with me into the tri world but i'll let that unfold gradually but i am quite thouroughly glad to finally even have the nuts to man up and even join a triathlon forum.

i think i'm home. :)

I totally agree with you on the cyclist crowd! I do not think there is any regulations about what type of jersey you are allowed to wear. Going from swimming ito the bike is a bit akward at first but you will soon find your legs. Good luck, kill the race!

Swim to Bike: It took me a while to get used to it, but I tend to experience an elevated heart rate and tired-feeling legs for the first couple miles on the bike. I think it has more to do with the fact that the swim is generally engaging more of the arms and the core, and it takes a bit for the bloodflow to get down to the legs. Bike to Run transition is really the one to focus on. Much more challenging!

It's my favorite part of the race...jumping on the bike dripping with water and taking off down the road, it's a fantastic feeling.

... and roadhouse: don't try to slip on a cycling jersey over your damp skin. Your T1 time might take longer than the ride! A tri top should take care of all three legs of the shorter tris.

T1 = transition between swim and bike
T2 = transition between bike and run

Both will be timed and will be included in your overall time.

That which does not kill me makes me faster...

Check out one of the above links (trisports.com, onetri.com, etc.) to get an idea of the typical apparel and equipment available. There is a lot of it. Welcome to Trifuel.

It;s funny that people are so against the roadies :) I like the roadies groups around here. They're fun to ride with and laugh at. They laugh at themselves alot too.

dumbass. it's not the roadies, it's the experiences i've had with the ones who, as it turns out, weren't that big of a deal after all.

it was never about how they wanted me to ride, it's about how i want to.
