Any other trifuelers going to be at Buckman Saturday or Skylands on Sunday?

It looks like I'll race the entire Buckman. Then Swim on a relay team the next day.

Have you raced Pine Barrens before? I'm curious about that venue. I've heard mixed reviews.

I have not. But a friend has. She said the swim and bike were beautiful, but the run was all on sand...not a fan of running on sand. but going to do it anyway. what have you heard?

I believe most of the complaints were organizational in nature. The race may have been new at the time and there are always things to be worked out.
I enjoy racing different venues and Pine Barrens was one that I've had my eye on. I like olympic distance races.
I look forward to your race/venue report.

That should be interesting. Would be funnier if wetsuits were required. (trying to get the suit on after you've been sweating)

I'm not sure whose organizing it. The guys who do the Oddman down there are incredibly casual and good race organization does not seem to be a priority. But they have a good sense of humor and the races are really small so not a big concern for me. I'll let you know how it goes...

I'm not racing this weekend - but best of luck to all you who are - I am looking outside my window which is open and feeling the coldness ... brrr ... that water is gonna be COLD!

Temps have really dropped in NJ the last week or so ... I have one more race this year Sept 27th - water is going to be too cold for my taste.

[Note to self - next year, end season in August. No need to be shivering in a wetsuit.]

______
Why? Many people have asked me... to test my limits ... and to push beyond them.

Saturday's Buckman was wet but warm enough it wasn't a problem. The water temp of the swim was still very doable without a wetsuit as many people did.
The fun bonus to Saturday's race was that there was a College Tri Team Wave.

Alice Henriques proved that you can win an event on the swim. I overheard some of the college guys talking afterwords. Let's just say some egos were bruised and they were trying to recover.
They staffed the race very well. There was someone at every turn of the bike and run.
I was 2 minutes faster on the .5 mile swim a minute faster on the 17 mile bike and a minute faster on the 5K compared to last year.

Sunday's Skylands. Beautiful day and all I have to do is swim for my relay team "Steve Austin" (Lee Majors not Stone Cold).
I didn't get the time I was hoping for on the swim but the party we hosted Saturday after the race may have had something to do with that. The 1st place team beat us by about 2:30. Next year...
My wife's team on the other hand successfully defended their relay title.

Another good race. The bike course does have a monster climb that is quite challenging.

How did the Pine Barrens and Vice Versa races go??

Vice Versa was postponed until this coming Saturday due to weather and issues with the course due to the sand from the beach.
