This was just alot of fun. My daughter said she would do a relay with me so I swam, she biked and I ran.
We left home at 4am and made it to Portland and the park by 6:30am. Checked in, setup transition and then talked it thru about where to go and what to expect. It has been so hot in Portland I was just not sure about wearing my awesome wetsuit so I took a quick dip in the lake---it was bath water! 76 degrees! Awesome swim, I really focused on freestyle, breathing, keeping going in the right direction and it was fun. Done in 19:44 which may be slow to some but my best yet. Run up and thru the entire transition area to the back where the relay teams were set. My daughter was ready and off she went....now the torture of waiting begins. I knew she would be about an hour....eat some food, drink some water, sunscreen, go to the bathroom, drink some water. She had a great ride. Passed people, kept up with the pack, rode hard and got back in 54minutes. It was her first race ever beyond racing her family home from the beach so I was just so proud of her. She tagged me and I ran out the transition and up the road. It was getting steamy hot outside and wow, I wish I had either had one more porto potty stop or less water? Run, run,,keep on running, keep on running...at the water station it was more of a splash the water on then drink it, back to the lake and into the shade. Run time of 38 min. Not my best run time but I have not been so consistant with it so it is what I get. I got my finishers medal and then found my daughter and made sure she got her's. We came in 9 out of 12 and it was just an amazing day for us together. We ate and then hung around for awards and all that. The trip home was awful long- detours, accident that held us up on I5 for an hour in the hot sunshine. I am just about sure I had a bit of heat stroke by the time I got home. Came home to a bank of fog on the coast and that was nice. Now two weeks to gear up for Danskin!
