Bozeman, MT area or Jackson, WY area riding
I moved from Bozeman (where I lived for almost 6 years) two weeks ago. Riding up near big sky is not that great unless you are a downhiller. Riding near bozo (bozeman) is fantastic if you're a roadie. There is all levels there, and you can get as scenic as you can stand. I'm not 100% sure what you're looking for, but the GVBC would be good people to contact (page below). if you're looking for a nice road ride, just south of town their is a network of roads with a moderate amount of traffic and good pavement. North of town there is an area west of Spring Hill Road which is also great, but a little more challenging. There are the obvious rides up canyons etc but most of those are high traffic. if you're up for a bit of an adventure with great rewards check out Jackson Creak Road which is just off of Bridger Canyon Road. JCR goes over a small mountain range called the Bangtails and loops back on some great farm/rural areas. it can be ridden from the intersection of BCR and JCR out and back is something about 20 miles with a little climbing. The road is quiet, good pavement and great views. if you go early in the morning you might even catch some elk bugles. :)
I have mapped the ride that I would suggest, it could be done any a road bike or any roadworthy commuter for that matter. You can park on the side of the road, but there is no good parking at the intersection. Hope you enjoy the ride, it's one of my favorites.

So, are you going to tell us where you finally decided to go?
Call up Skinny Skis in Jackson and ask them...also get their trail map of the Teton area. Skinny Skis website is at http://www.skinnyskis.com/ Give them a call. Scenery in/around Jackson is AWESOME.

jnrice, I hope you get a flat. :) I get to ride the same high-traffic, smog-choked routes over and over and over . . . I knew I shouldn't have opened this.
+1, totally jealous!

I'm going to be on vacation next week with the family...we will be 3 nights in the Bozeman area (specifically Big Sky actually, so a little out of town) and 4 nights in Jackson (Hole?...I've seen it both ways). We have a pretty loose schedule of events at this point, so I've been looking into bike rentals, and they're pretty cheap ($25-40 for a day) so I'm considering riding some. Anyone have suggestions on where to ride/places to see?
At most, I'll probably only ride 1x in each place...and this could be a full family ride...we're all in good enough shape to crank out up to 25 miles together easily if it's relatively flat...if I go solo, I'll probably be looking 30-40miles (don't want to spend too much time away) w/ hills.
Another option is mountain biking...we are all pretty novice in that regard...my sister has done some in MO, and all of us but my wife have done some downhill riding in Utah a few years back, but that's it. Still, if there's a can't miss trail/site...bring it on.
Thanks
