2009/Q2 Complete: Post your training log, race results
Here's mine...still steady progress...and I averaged 25mph over a 10.2 mile TT last night, that was a really fun new high for me. No more races until Steelhead though.

Training:
Swim: 35,150 yards. Looks like 15 sessions of 40-50 min each.
Bike: 314 miles. I've no idea how fast that was.
Run: 84.2 miles. I'm gonna guess my pace was between 8:30 and 9 min.
Weights: 11 hours.
Average training week was probably 6-7 hours. I'd like to up that to 8-10, but with the kiddos and work, I don't see it happening.

Swim: 81,431m in 33hrs 10min (2:27/100m, off b/c that includes drills, breaks, etc.)

Run: 326.3 in 44hrs 07mins (8:07/mile pace)
Total: 151 hrs 11 mins
Race Results:
5/20: Fort Carson Sprint Tri - 57:xx (3rd OA, 1st AG)
6/13: Ironman 70.3 Boise - 5:07 (PR by 1:10, training must be working)
This was the first quarter that I trained injury free, but now my knee is acting up again after the race in Boise. I'm taking it a little easy but I think I'll be fine through IMC.
Next quarter should be a good one. Some big training days before I race my first IM at IMC. Also have the Colorado Relay and Newton's 24 Hours of Triathlon race penciled in depending on how I hold up in Canada.
jsk85, I'm interested to hear about your first crit.
Happy Training and Racing!

This is fun to look at. No tri's in Q2, first Sprint in 2 weeks. I did do a 24 hour MTB that makes up most of my off road time for the quarter - 60 miles in 24 hours as part of a team.

**Pain is weakness leaving the body**
*Smile, it does a body good*
as it's not a racing year for me, the totals are down quite a bit (compared to this time last year)
bike 320 mi
core 11:35
run 122.84 mi
swim 2063 yd
i did do our triclub's mock tri (sprint dist) in about 1:25...during which i accumulated half my swimming total for the quarter :)
i going to do Hood to Coast in August with my office's team
I'll play... really brings out my laziness:
Swim - 69.6 km in 1031 min (88.9 sec/100m)
Bike - 2113 km in 3874 min (32.7 kph)
Run - 422.5 km in 1683 min (3:59/km = 6:23/mi)
Total time: 93 hours, 47 minutes
Race results:
8 cycling races, 7 crits (5th, 6th, 7th and 4 pack finishes) 1 RR (2nd)
3 tris:
Galena, IL: 4 O/A, fastest swim (with no wetsuit) (1:18/100, 19.8 mph - hilly!, 6:07/mi)
Batavia, IL: 3 O/A (1:10/100, 24.6 mph, 6:00/mi)
Hy-Vee Olympic: 22:08, 1:07, 1:04:56, 1:22, DNF. Didn't go anywhere near as planned. I'm not a morning person, whatsoever, and just couldn't get moving for the 6 am start. Goal and training was for 1:57 (which would have won by over a minute) but execution was non-existent. Was sick on the swim and came out around 15th, over a minute off pace. On the bike, legs were pushing 40-50W less than training rides, and 60+ less than races. Bike split was 6 minutes slower than my capabilities, and I pulled out after a half mile of the run in about 30th place. I wasn't going to be proud of running a sub 35 10k only to break 2:05.
But this week's training has been highly motivated...
Hours %
9.75 11.98% S 10000.0 yards. All May was OWS 2x/week. Paid off!
28.35 34.83% B 328.91 miles. Doesn't include 4-5 MTBs of 2 hours each.
29.8 36.61% R 151 miles, mostly 7:30 - 8:00 miles
4 4.91% C "Combo" means only two bricks! Explains terrible duathlon!
9.5 11.67% XT Not sure what this includes. Bad notes. Hottub R/R?
0 0.00% W No weight training in summer.
81.4 100.00% These are the totals.
Overall: April was ok. May was a great month. June had two races and a week off for family so not much volume there, and we had a lot of rain that month, so I wasn't bummed about missing a whole lot of training then. First week in July seems to be a "knock off the rust" week.
Races:
Pocatello 50 trail race: Did a 19 mile leg of this 50 mile race. Something like 5,500ft elevation, to the top of a local mountain. Sore for a week after! It hurt, but I found it to be awesome in a very new way.
Bismarck, ND: turned into a duathlon. Time sucked; won't post. Pulled calf muscle on first 5k (I even warmed up, which I normally don't do). High school reunion and family time for four days prior, including too much junk food and beer, might have contributed to this terrible result.
Janet's Tri, Hebgen Lake near Yellowstone:
Overall: 1:39 and first of six in AG. Fifth or sixth overall in field of 72 or so.
1k OWS=15:02...dropped time from 22:XX from last year, so all the OWS in May paid off.
14 mile MTB on flat packed dirt = 42:XX kind of slow.
4.2mile run on flat packed dirt = 33:04 slow while babying the pulled calf from week before.
Future Races:
Aug 1: Pocatello sprint
Aug 15: Rush Tri (Olympic) in Rexburg, ID
Aug 24: Portland Tri (Olympic)
Sept 12: Bear Lake Brawl in SE Idaho / NE Utah
What I learned:
Travelling 14 hours in a car before a race SUCKS for the race.
Duathlons suck.
Tri-bike to MTB works different muscles (relearned this, actually).
OWS practice pays off big. It's worth a 20 minute drive versus 3 blocks to the pool.
MTB is nice change of pace.
Swimming somehow helps a pulled calf muscle.
Wow! I don't swim near as much as everyone else.
Wow! I don't swim near as much as everyone else.
Nah. You have almost 4 x as much time in the water as me. Swimming is my favorite part of the race, and least favorite to train. Go figure.

If you'd like to play along, post your second quarter 2009 training log and race results. If you use the TriFuel log, open your log, "View a log entry summary for the last 3 Months," and post your totals:
Swim: 19,300m in <6 hours (1:48 per 100m)
Bike: 531 miles in 30 hours, 17.7mph avg
Run: 224 miles in 33 hours, 8:56 pace (it's the heat!)
LIft: 14 hours
Total: 84 hours
Race results: Finished Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon, April 26. Don't worry about time. It sucked.
