Modest goal achieved - Local sprint
That is a huge improvement in one year. Good for you on your 1 year anniversary.

Awesome! What a great improvement! So fun to repeat the same tri and see exactly how far you have come. What's next on your list?

Congrats on the AG and time improvements. That has to be encouraging. Great job!
Congrats on your one year anniversary! And on bringing on the PRs in every aspect of your race this year. What a great way to see how your abilities have changed in just one year. Great job!!!!

i have my 1 year anniversary race tomorrow- i'm hoping it will work out as well as yours did. congrats on the improvements and that sucks about your toe- rub some dirt on it you'll be fine lol. Way to kick some major booty!!
i have my 1 year anniversary race tomorrow-
Good luck! Can't wait to hear your RR.
As for what's next - In August I am doing another sprint. I did this race (Ramblin' Rose) as a relay last year with my Mom and sister. This year my Mom signed up to do the whole thing. I am so proud of her. She's never been a runner and is currently in week 5 of the Cool Runnings Couch to 5K program. She and my Dad both bought road bikes a couple of months ago and she's really been coming along on the biking too. Anyhow, very, very proud. (My sister would no doubt do the race too but she is expecting my nephew in a few weeks.)
Doing my first half marathon in October with a friend. Might possibly do another sprint in July (this one with a lake swim).
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
Congrats! It is great to see so much improvement :)

Repeating a race is a good idea. This is my 3rd year, and a few weeks ago I did the first race that I'll probably repeat. Maybe I'm subconsciously afraid of being disappointed by lack of improvement :) Certainly something you don't have to worry about this year. Way to go.
Way to Go! Nice report. I love the idea of doing the same race more than once.
That has to be such an awesome feeling knowing how much you have improved and to see how your hard work has paid off! Awesome and with a bum toe!

Your toe is probably hurt from kicking everyone's @$$, not you daughter's bike.
...at the finish line, there are no losers...
Much better than I did on my 1 year anniversary race (1/2 hour slower!)
Great job!

So, I repeated my first triathlon event last Sunday. One year of tris for me.
300 m swim, 10ish mile bike, 2.5 mile run
(For some reason no T1, T2 times given- I guess rolled into the bike and run)
As I walking through the garage Sunday morning I banged my foot into the training wheels of my daughter's bike. Ow! Not the most auspicious start for the day.
Pre race - nothing remarkable. It's a small, local women's only sprint. Very beginner friendly, low key vibe. Chatted a bit.
Swim - serpentine. Missed my start by a second. "go, GO!" Ack! After that OK. I had to let one woman pass. I was right on my submitted pace, I think she was just a bit conservative with her time. Otherwise an OK swim. I really was not digging on the whole duck under the lane lines bit. I guess I prefer open water.
Swim time 5:41 (last year 6:20)
T1 - some twinges putting on my shoes and socks where I banged the toe. Otherwise pretty efficient.
Bike - Usually it's an on your left parade. But I was only passed by three people (and I had an early swim start) and I passed two people. So I almost broke even. Small rollers and one pretty substantial hill. Felt better than last year. Last year I was on a big old heavy bike. So definitely appreciated the road bike this year.
Bike time 47:26 (last year 56:14) I think the course was more like 10.5 miles or so.
Run - 2.5 miles
3 small loops. Lots of cheering spectators (and my husband and the kids - when he could get them off the playground). Toe not bothering me.
Run Time - 23:42 (last year 27:49)
Overall time 1:16:49 (last year 1:32:57)
5/18 AG (last year 9/11)
44/99 overall (last year 65/77)
My modest goal was to have a midpack finish. And I did. Also felt pretty good about moving up in my age group.
When I took my shoe off after the run my toe was all nasty and purple and square. It didn't really bother me during the race, but it was very sore afterwards. It turned out not to be broken but it is still tender now.
Anyhow, felt good about things overall. This was the second race where my bike rank was slightly higher than my run rank. Both times have improved, but now the run is my weakest link rather than the bike. Now to work on more run speed.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...
