.5 mi swim- 13:08 1:29/100yd pace
T1- 1:57? long run to transition area + wetsuit, still pretty high.
14 mi bike- 40:01 20.99mph avg
T2- 1:18 Had to go back for water bottle I dropped, overall not bad.
4 mi run- 27:22 6:50/mi pace avg
Overall- 84 of 278
Age Group- 12 of 20 - moving to 25-29 this year has proved to be a big jump.

I knew this would be a gut check and really just wanted to finish pretty strong and learn my lessons for slacking off. It worked.

My swim was okay, I need to work on sighting big time. Probably could have knocked a large chunk of time off if I could hold a line better, will be spending more time in the lake with my new wetsuit that will arrive Tuesday. I'm pretty happy with it actually, I've come pretty far over the winter, just need to learn how to speed up. Consistency is good, I could have held that pace for another .5, and have, but need to work on the faster stuff for my next sprint, 12July. Fitness felt pretty good though, the base for the HIM program really paid off and showed when I knew I had a lot left in me hitting the beach.
T1-Out of water, cap/goggles in hand, wetsuit to waist leaving cap/goggles in sleeve, run to transition. Strip wetsuit, helmet, rinse feet, shoes, run to mount area. I have been practicing starting with feet on top of shoes but need a little more time before I do it in a race.

The bike was a nice course, mile markers out and plenty of volunteers/police officers. I passed a couple people from my wave and got passed by a bunch from the Male 40+ wave. Hills were where I could make up some ground, but I lost time in the flats. My cadence feature isn't working right now and I'm thinking I'll be replacing the computer soon due to that. I need to spend more time in the saddle. Plain and simple.

T2- Into to dismount area, unclipped + off bike fine, cross timing mat, water bottle flies out, just like it did last race. Turn around, get bottle, turn around, run to my spot. Running shoes, hat, belt and off. Good Trans. except for the bottle. Its and xlab dual cage behind the seat. I love the accessibility but am getting fed up with flying bottles. Ordering an aero drink to resolve that issue I think, any thoughts?

Run course was a big loop, mostly flat, water stations every mile or so. Calves were a little tight coming out which slowed me down at first but that went away. I was pushing pretty well, passed a lot and only got passed by 2 guys. At the 3 mile marker I turned it up and my last mile was about a 6:15, allowing me to end on a good note. Run fitness seems good so far, need to work in some runs more often off the bike to see whats going on with my calves.
Post Race- Stuck around for a little bit but had to get going so I missed the awards and raffle for a QR wetsuit, but I left because I went to a cake testing for my wedding, so I think I made out a little better anyways.
Nutrition- Breakfast- Blueberry muffin, half a banana and DD coffee on the way to race, about 2 hrs before start. Stomach held up well, which is an improvement.
GU 15 minutes before race start, then I hit the lake for a warmup.
Had watered down gatorade on the bike, tried a new flavor though, some berry thing, whatever it was it was way too sweet to have much more of. Lesson learned.

Overall- Pretty good race, my flaws are clear and will be worked on. Looking forward to having June to train and get into the full swing of the program. Now it's time to wait for the pictures again, perhaps I'll spin on the trainer until they are posted.

i dont know what today will bring to me, but thats just fine.

Thanks, the cake was good... we chose raspberry chocolate chambourd, now its time to figure out the design. Thats more of the bride/the mothers thing though, I was just worried about the taste.
