Ok so I have been thinking about food a lot lately. I have started to pick up my training volume and I am starting to eat like a bear getting ready to go into hibernation. As triathletes we all consume an ungodly amount of GU, protein bars, power bars, and tons of other products that we call "food", but I am so ready to indulge on a few holiday favorites. My grandmother makes the best chocolate creme pie and I can't wait to eat some soft peanut brittle from my favorite local candy store. Please tell me I am not the only one that is ready to "fudge" a little on their strict triathlon diet.

I have no "strict triathlon diet", I ate those same things yesterday along with chocolate covered caramel popcorn, chocolate chip cookies, and pizza today.......mmm...mmm....mmm. The holidays just mean I get to eat MORE, and MORE DIFFERENT AND DELICIOUS THINGS EVERYONE ELSE MAKES!!!

Pumpkin pie, apple fritters, Costco hot dogs, sugar cookies, cranberry wine...I say bring it! That's part of the reason I love tri. Plus, race season is months away for most of us, I'm indulging now while keeping up with my training.

Eat what you love and want...in moderation. Go ahead, have some of that pie. Just don't have 3 or 4 slices. Be smart about food and alcohol intake during the holidays and you'll be fine.
The Holidays are a time of year for sharing memories and connecting with those you love. In almost every culture times like that revolve around food. Life is far too short. Enjoy!

I can't wait to get to my target weight so I can worry less about what I eat and don't. Right now I count calories in an try to limit myself to 1800/day though some days I do eat more. I'll definitely have a few goodies for the holidays. I was excited not to gain over Thanksgiving. Only about 40lbs to go.

Just keep spinning....spinning, spinning....uh, do I know you?

Sour cream Christmas cookies decorated with frosting, chocolate toffee brittle, pecan fudge...As far as I am concerned, life's not worth living without the little indulgences along the way. Come January, it'll back to carrot sticks and yogurt. I'm gonna enjoy the holidays while they last!

i quit eating junk food in around oct 2007, and i still do ocassionally, but when i do...i feel like crap every time. i get a headache, crash, and feel like puking....so i have reason to avoid that junk, which makes it easier.

A junk food hangover; sweet (pun intended). That would keep me from eating the garbage I too often find myself snacking on.

It's all about the cookies. I am not much of a dessert eater but chocolate chip, cinnamon, and Christmas cutouts are my weakness.

I'm all for any holiday that lets me go to the grandma-in-law's! Wow!

Eve - Lasagna! Turkey! Ham! This last Thanksgiving I gained 3 pounds in just that one day. :)

Day - Smoked ribs, more Lasagna, and some more Turkey!

I do love the fudge, cookies, and other treats floating around work too. :) Glad I'm in the middle of training, otherwise I wouldn't be able to work off those pounds that I'll gain on the good eating days! :)

Yesterday the kids and I made these really gingery gingerbread cookies and decorated them. We had a progressive dinner in our neighborhood that ended up for dessert at our house after 4 hours of eating and good company at various houses.

I also made a peach crisp with coconut-oatmeal topping. Yummmmmm!!!!

Not much of a recipe, but I used frozen peaches that we picked this summer and thawed and drained them. Then put them in a 9x12 pan. For topping I combine butter, brown sugar, uncooked rolled oats, hemp seeds, flax meal, coconut, nuts, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg, in approximate amounts so that the topping is crumbly. Put on top of peaches, throw in the oven and bake.

This time since it needed to be vegan, I used coconut oil instead of butter.

I generally eat healthy but I am lured to the dark side of good eats and treats during the holidays.
I try and limit the amount I eat and make sure I keep up the exercise.

The December 30/30 is helping a lot.
