Hi,

I have biked for 4 years now, and I have never heard of this problem before, and I really need some help.

Right above the Crank of my bike there is an empty space my front changer used to fill. As you guys probably know, the front changer is pretty important, so I'd really like to get it back on my bike.

It used to sit on a quite small tube that stuck out slightly viertically above the crank, it's somehow broken off, and I'm basically wondering:

Can I fix it myself?

Can a mechanic fix it?

Or do I simply need to buy a new frame? :(

Thanks in advance

It really is going to depend on the frame and what went wrong. If the bolts holding it on simply came loose, than yeah, you can reattach it. If it is a braze on, and it broke off, take it to an LBS. My buddy had a derailleur hanger crack, and it had to be sent back to the manufacturer for replacement.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

You don't need a new frame. Any more info on what bike you are riding? If it's a road double or triple crank-set and you lost the deraileur hanger, no worries; you can just get a clamp-on instead. You can also find clamps to be used with braze-on deraileurs if you still have it. If you can, upload a pic so we can get a better idea of what we're looking at and where to go.
