Woke up at 4:30, had cofee and a pb&j sandwich. Headed to the race site. Got there right as transition opened, got settled, and went out for a 30 min warm up jog. Transition filled up by the time I got back, piddled around for the next hour waiting for the race to start, had a 1/3 of a powerbar and some gatorade. Finally transition closed and we headed to the swim start. The swim was 300m in dirty, nasty, 78 degree polluted lake. I was the 3rd out of the water, ran thru transition, got on my bike, my brother and his gf came and cheered as I tried to click into my pedals. Went out on the bike, the course was really fast. Every time I looked down at my computer, it said 20 or 21 (which is super fast for me). Got back to transition 10 mi later, stuck on socks and shoes (last time I got a blister when I skipped the socks), and ran out on my 5k run, which felt really good. Got 4th in my AG...maybe if I'd have skipped the socks or clicked into my pedals faster, I would have podiumed, but c'est la vie. I had fun! Now I need to decide if I should do or skip the sprint in 2 weeks in lieu of a long run (and probably a better training day) for my HIM in 4 WEEKS FROM TODAY!

Good job! I wonder what the water quality WAS of that lake...If it ain't clean...it ain't safe.
Skip the sprint. Do the long run.
Putting socks on before the bike usually works out better for sock wearers...it's easier to make up time on the bike than the run.

Good job on the 4th place AG finish. Skip the sprint and focus on your HIM training, your long run 2 weeks out will be an important training day.
