Final weekend before first sprint training question
If you feel confident you can complete the tri...then no need to worry about the "mock tri" the weekend before. That is more a confidence boosting thing for people who don't think they can put it all together necessarily. Even then, we always suggest making it shorter and less intense than what you want to do on raceday.
According to what you have said above in regard to your training, you are certainly ready for the tri. Stick to the schedule, and get some good rest this week. Enjoy yourself next week, and let us know how it goes. A full race report.
Experienced triathletes rarely (if ever) put all 3 disciplines together in one workout other than on raceday

+1 But if you are so compelled, do swim/bike (race distance) one day; run (race distance) the next over the last weekend before the race. Totally optional though, and I'd still prefer your regularly scheduled session.
unless you are one of the people who psyche yourself out don't worry about it. if your going to start freaking out on race day as you hit the water with thoughts of "I don't know if I can do this" there might be some benefit to it.
What I would say is a better option is to go to the race site (if you can) and put in a short swim there, walk through your transition area (even if there are no flags or screaming fans). If you can't get to the race site then go there a 1/2 hour before you need to be there on race day and walk the transition before there are racers on the course. Walking transitions can be a HUGE help. I got lost on my first transition because I was tired and there were people cheering... for me! :)
In short, don't worry about a mock-tri unless you absolutely feel you NEED to.
I was in the same shoes as you 4 years ago. I remember thinking can i do this? If you did the
training you will be fine. Bricks are enough just relax, focus and breath! You will be amazed at
how easy it actually is! Then the next race you can actually be at ease and maybe enjoy it
better. As my hubby always says before a race swim like a fish, bike like Lance and run like the
wind! I hope you have a great race!
If you can do the distances and bricks work out ok for you, you'll be fine without a mock-race. What kind of swim is it: pool or open water? The biggest psych-out for me was not being used to open water surrounded by 30 of my closest competitors. If you can get a bunch of people to trample you in the water this weekend so you can get used to that, it might help. ;-)
You can always do some triathlon swim training to get you used to the rough swim start

Nothing to it, but to do it
I wouldn't worry about doing a mock tri, if you followed the plan you'll be ready race day. you could try a couple of mock transitions to understand the flow and it's also a good way to double check everything you'll need race day.
Good luck out there, you'll do great-- and try not to do this

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
I think the advantage of some sort of mock tri is really to familiarize yourself with all of the issues with your gear, transitions, etc. They can be really helpful to point out anything you might not have thought about (like how your bike shorts chafe more when they're wet, or how you need to remember to leave your bike in a low gear, how hard it is to pull on socks with wet and shaking hands, etc.). I have done a mock tri with all of the triathletes I've trained, and see it really as a confidence booster and something to use to iron out the details. But I agree, it's totally an optional thing, especially with just a week to go.
I think if it feels like something you really want to cover, then I'd change your plan up and go for it. If you are already feeling pretty confident that you've got those bases covered, don't worry about it.

I am a little over 2 weeks out. I have followed the sprint training plan offered on trifuel as best as i could. In my training, I have covered each required distance on its own and done several brick sessions to get acclimated to the transition. So, I am confident I can finish each distance. However, in my research i found the suggestion of going out and basically doing the tri the weekend before. It kind of spooked me. Is this a common practice. Obviously not for longer tri's where the peak is the tri. ,but as a beginner? I guess I'm not worried about putting it all together. So my question is "SHOULD I BE?" The last weekend in the plan i'm using does have a (bike/run 15/10, rest 5" repeat five times) brick that should total around a sprint time. Thanks everybody..
