Living in North Idaho, winter is just around the corner, so to speak. As a result, my outdoor running and biking will need to move indoors for the next 5-6 months (especially if we have a winter like last year!) I want to maintain my base that was developed over the past year and have a goal of being more competitive at the USAT Age Group Nationals next year. I was 17th in my age group (M65-69) this year with a Personal Best time but didn't make the USA World Team for Australia because of all the 64 year olds that rolled down to our group for 2009. I am in the process of moving to a new house with a "bonus" room above the garage that my wife said I could use as my "Gym" for the winter. A question ... if money was not an object, based on your experience or recommendations from a friend or user, which treadmill and/or indoor bike trainer (for my Obrea road bike) would you recommend I purchase? It isn't often that I get this chance so want to take advantage of it ASAP! (Maybe it is because I am buying her the new house so what's a few thousand more?!!!!) Your thoughts would be appreciated.

If money isnt an object and you want a bike trainer then the Computrainer is a sweet deal. Make your own courses, download courses etc. You can track progress over different courses, create your own hill repeat courses, time trials on flats, anything you want!!!

I dont know anything about treadmills....

+1 for Computrainer. I own a CycleOps and love it. Nothing fancy. I have a couple of Training DVDs that I watch and when I don't want to do a set workout, just put in a movie or watch a football game.

I live in MN so I have the same issue with running/biking. Last winter was horrible.

I agree with respect to the computrainer. It is a pretty great training tool, epecially for intervals. As far as a treadmill, I would recommend a Landice. I did a considerable amount of research before buying mine. They get good reviews and have an excellent warranty. I have now had mine for almost two years with no issues whatsoever. I live in Bend, so I use both quite a bit in the winter months.

Well bless your little hearts as they say here in South Carolina! You guys must feel like
gerbils on a spinning wheel after 5-6mths of training inside that must suck! I can run outside pretty much all winter and I run at 4am!
As far as a treadmill goes Overstock.com has good deals and just pick the
one that has gotten the best reviews. I myself have been eyeing the
spinning bikes has anyone had a use for these as a w.o.?
