Achilles pain
Depending on the injury there may not be a way to speed it up. If its tendon related the best bet is just to stay off it. Muscles could be a matter of a small rupture, strain, or any number of things. Best bet is just to say off it and continue stretching multiple times daily. When your stretching your calves a common stretch that is over-looked is to lean slightly forward and keep your feet flat on the ground but bending at the knee with stretch that achillies and the bottom of that calf out real nice. A nice anti-inflamitory might do the trick a little bit too.
I sprained my achilles about 3 months ago, I could not get it to heal so I went to the doc and he gave me a knee high splint to wear. Said rest and immobilization were the only things that would help. I wore it for a few weeks and I was feeling great.
Began to walk and after a couple weeks I was up to 8 miles. Started eccentric heel raises a coupld times daily. Everything felt great. Then I felt brave and figured I would give a slow jog a shot. After a few minutes I was having achilles pain again. I felt depressed and pissed that this happened.
Now I am again wearing the splint and have promised myself that I will not try any running for at least 3 months. Kind of screws me for the races I have planned, but I am getting really tired of being hurt.
Not sure the doctors really can offer anything except a bill for the office visit. Anyone else have any suggestions?

I've been running on a treadmill for the past 6 months due to being deployed and for the last 3 months I've had a lot of pain in my right achilles about 2 inches above my heel. I took 2 weeks off and ran again yesterday and woke up sore again today. I won't be able to see a doctor for at least another month. Any ideas how to speed the healing process? I'm really missing not running!
