I am thinking about it but am still looking over all of the races next year. I did the St.Croix race last year (which was great) the first part of May and might head back there. There are a lot of great races out there, tough decisions. Have you signed up and is this your first HIM?

I had strongly considered it, but decided the time of year wasn't great for me, so I'm instead embarking on the maiden voyage of the Augusta, GA 70.3. GL though

Yummy, swimming in Lake Ponchartrain. I lived in NO prior to Katrina and never heard of anyone ever swimming in the lake. And BTW, it is neither fresh nor saltwater. It is brakish and brown. Wear clear goggles. I looked at the course and the finish area will be awesome. Be sure to get reservations for a nice brunch after the race. You'll be racing below see level most of the time, so don't worry about hills.

Ponch (that's the Mississippi below it):

I'm down to New Orleans for work every other week and am considering doing the race as my first 70.3. The weather should be nice for the race in April, but I still can't see swimming in the Lake.

I'm hoping to be able to do it. I went to undergrad there, and have only been back once after I moved a bit more than a year ago. The bike might be windy, but the run will be a beautiful course through some of my favorite parts of the city. It'll be an experience and I'm hoping there's going to be a great turn out.

It's definitely something to look forward to.

Looks like I could go in with no tan and come out nice and brown (no need for the beach!!!) I waited a couple weeks ago because of Hurrican Hannah and Ike and am just treading water waiting for my PT to say ok from my foot injury in April. I saw the 27ft Max elevation when I mapped it on mapmyride.com so that should be easy training considering I live in Illinois. It will be my first HALF so I figured I could do one at the beginning of my season and then work in my local HALF (Steelhead) later in the summer.

We were close to having the same A race schedules. I'll be at Steelhead for sure, see you there
