Congrats on your first and good luck on your next.
Strange how laughter looks like crying with no sound. Raindrops taste like tears without the pain. Queensryche

Great report for a first race! Congrats.
To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

I would like to thank all of the members here that provide tons of advice over the last ten weeks as I trained for my first triathlon. 34 year old father of three, 214 Clydesdale with no previous triathlon experience. 400 meters, 15 mile bike, 3 mile run. The day started at 4:3O AM as the park is about 45 minutes Northeast of Alpharetta and transition opened at 5:30. I had organized and packed up the night before so I had very little to do but make a peanut butter sandwich and get in the car. As I headed up 985 I started to notice cars with tri bikes on the back whizzing by at 80 miles per hours. I thought to myself that we were already racing to the park and to set up transition. As I got into the park I was struck by how many folks were already in place and setting up. It was a cool 62 degrees and I heard them announce that the race would be wetsuit legal. I went to get marked and got to my transition area. As I got marked it began to sink in the I was here and I was going to do this. I was first to my transition area and set up. I have to say that all of the articles on set and transition were great. The race folks were walking around checking areas. I watched people greet each other from past races and nervous folks pace about and get organized. I walked down to the water to check out the course but it was too dark to see the full outline. After about 45 minutes I got into my wetsuit and went back down to the water. After the mandatory race meeting they organized the waves and we all turned to face the flag and sang the national anthem as the dawn was breaking. By 7:30 we were in the water and off and running. I felt like I could not get a solid pace because the field was very crowed and mostly I spent time avoiding swimmers. I was told later that about 25 out of 500 were pulled out of the water. Out of the water into transition and the body glide worked wonders. I was out quickly and on the bike. First five miles were hilly and then the route flattened out and I put the hammer down. Two gels on the bike and a bottle of gatorade. Came in strong on the bike and started the run. It felt like a half a mile before my legs came in. Run was flat with a hill at the end and then out and back. Total time was One hour and twenty three minutes. I was five minutes behind the third place Clydesdale winner, and 13th out of I am not sure how many until the post results. I stayed around after the race to hear the times and got a post race massage on the table. Awesome. Overall it was a great day and I was satisfied with the time. I can't wait to analyze my transition times and work on improving. A beautiful sport with beautiful people. I will be back again for sure. Learned a ton and I am ready for my Oct 5th race. Thanks again all. You all were a huge help.
