I don't need support or stability...just a go fast race shoe that won't give me blisters. I am currently using Asics Landreth III and they are ok...looking for a flat or something with a little more "race" in it.

I use the Zoot Ultra Race and I love them. They dont weigh much of anything, they do offer support (carbon implants in the sole) holes in the bottom allow water to drain out immediately and they have built in yanks so there a snap to get rollling out of transition with. They run about 130 bucks a pop.

Each shoe will be different for each foot, so you will have to try out some shoes and look for seams that might rub you the wrong way.

I looked at the Zoot and it looked great. I tried it on barefoot and it bothered my ankles immediately so I didn't want to possibly blow over $100.

I don't mind taking an extra 30 seconds to put on my socks, and using my Asics ;-)

Nothing to it, but to do it

Short course or long course? Huge difference in the shoes.
I'm a short course guy. I love my Adizero PRs. They weigh nothing. Smooth insides, I vaseline the heel, sole, and the pinky toe edge. Off road, I have a pair of Nike Zoom Xc that I am not too fond of. Nothing like my old Zoom spikes from high school. Adidas makes a pair of spike, too. Gonna have to get my hands on those.

Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

I love my Newtons. I have no problems at all barefoot in them up to a 1/2 marathon.

I'd say longer, but haven't ran barefoot in them longer than that, but imagine I could.

I've had great success with the ASICS Speedstar. I wear them without socks with no problem and at about $70 they dont break the bank. They dry quickly, are super light and still have enough cushion. I tried the Zoot Ultra Race but they were just too high in the back and rubbed both heals. If your going long though, take the time to put on socks.

I do okay in my Mizuno Wave Precision for 5Ks. I go w/ socks for anything longer.

Regardless of which shoe you select, be sure to add a bit of BodyGlide (or similar lubricant) to the inside of your shoes, particulary along the seams (potential hotspots). That should help.

I agree, but if you are doing more than 10 k, take the time to wear socks
