Hey guys, Trimore here.

I don't know if any of you remember, but I posted my first comments here after my first sprint tri. I was bummed because I finished last. Well...the support I got from you guys helped me kick myself in the butt. I joined my local triathlon club and two months later I did my second tri and shaved 18 minutes off my time!!! I'm so excited I feel like stopping people on the street to tell them about my race.
The worst part of my first tri was the swim. This time, I kicked ass. Came in 10th in my age group. Now, I'm hooked on the sport and plan to train through the winter. I know I can easily shave another four minutes off my time. If I can manage that, then next season, I can even be competitive. My new goal is to have a top ten finish in one race next summer.
Most people say there's nothing like the feeling of finishing your first tri. For me, I gotta say nothing beats the exhiliration of the second. Can't wait to see what the third will be like.

Congrats. I am in the same boat. Good luck with your goals.

Strange how laughter looks like crying with no sound. Raindrops taste like tears without the pain. Queensryche

Way to be! I'm glad your a hopeless addict. If I might offer a word of advice, and I don't mean this to sound negative, you might want to place your goals on your performance and not on the performance of your field. A top 10 finish would be awesome but speaks more about the field and not you. Maybe a sub 30 min 20K bike or sub 19 min 5k run?

If you were to take even the strongest athlete here and drop them into the pro's at Kona they'd be hard pressed to not be last, or if you dropped them into the Ms. Duckies day care kiddy pool tri I'd hope that most anyone would win. You can see the tricycles in the transition area can't you?

That being said, dropping 18 min from ANY time is awesome, I wish I could drop 18 min from my Olympic time, oh hell even my 1/2 IM.

Congrats! And, I agree that setting sites on the finish ranking may be tough, but I say to go ahead and shoot for it.

I do each of mine to beat my previous time. Granted, some sprints have 12 mile bikes and others have 15 mile bikes. I still try to beat my best time. So far, I've been setting a PR with each race. I do also know that at some point, I'll probably not set a PR, but hopefully that's way down the road (literally and figuratively). :) I can't change who is at the event, but I do have control over me...so, I like to compete against myself.

Good luck with your top 10 goal!
