So next year sometime i would like to do my first Iron-Distance Race. I could care less about branding as i am a college student and dont want to shell out that much for a race. Plus i live in Reno,NV and want to be able to drive there in about one day 10-12hrs is ok. So i am looking for any ideas or races you have done and liked. Thanks for the help.

Try Silverman. Right around the corner from you. Supposed to be a tough, but good race.

but, it's only 140.6 :) you may have to walk around the finishing shoot a bit to get that last .1 :)

Damn... beat to both the 140.6 comment and the Silverman suggestion. lol

I'm planning to do Silverman half next year. I've heard great things about the event as a whole (not to mention that it's good and tough).

giggles

I bet we are going to see an increase in the registration for non-IM branded events now that more IM NA races are selling out on-site. I'll sign up for Silverman/Vineman et al before I go to an IM city twice.

Yes, do this one for sure! Its in november which means the weather is actually managable in Las Vegas. Other benefits would be it is in the end of the season so you can prepare alllll year for it - you'll place well - it's still growing as a full distance tri - it doesnt' have any annoying loops on the bike... and the entire course is supported better than any I have seen.

I lived in LV for 1 year and rode the course on a weekly basis. It's amazing, very different from CA. You'll love it.

And no I'm not getting paid to say all that. Thanks for nothing Frank.

Weary is the path that does not challenge.
