Cramped/Strained Quads

well... I remember I had terrible leg cramps during a tri and basically walked the 10K to the finish (8:30 min miles) I remember the following day/2 were so painful. I was young and ignorant then but basically hydrated myself to the point where I was going to the bathroom every hour and just nice long slow bike rides and runs and swims (swimming felt the best; I am a swimmer though) to loosen the legs up I didnt really start training again till two weeks after that and even then it took me about a month to get back on track.

Hi everyone. Need some advice. I just finished a Sprint Tri (first one this year), and I finished well, considering: I finished 3rd in my AG (25-29M), cramped on the bike leg at mile 12, both quads, both which again seized up on me at mile 1 of the run. took 9 cups of water and some stretching before i could wobble my way back to the finish over the last few miles. Now, I didnt hydrate/take in proper nutrition obviously, and I did just work a 12hr shift mostly on my feet the night/morning prior. BUT, it is day two, and I still can't stretch my quads now without severe pain, meaning I can't pick up my own legs! haha. So is this more than just a quad/hydration cramping issue, or something more serious?!?! Ideas please (minus going to the doctor) Ever happen to anyone? I did push about 2mph ave harder on the bike leg than ever before for such a distance. And yes, I have logged the miles as I am peaked for HIM+ distance races. Thanks guys/gals, for any response, I am puzzled by this as it has never happened before!
