I came down with some sort of stomach bug on Tuesday night and flew into town yesterday not feeling so hot. I managed to get through the day a bit nervous about which direction it would head but fortunately, today I woke up not 100% but definitely better. So whatever it was, it appears to be going away. I did have some salsa on Tuesday so maybe I was poisoned by tomatoes.

I met Derek aka derek5 this morning while waiting in line to pickup my packet. I hope to get in touch with others in order to put some faces on some names I see on the forum. After I picked up my stuff, I drove part of the bike course. And from what I’ve seen so far, it seems like it’s going to be fast. We returned back to the resort so I could pickup my gear from Tri Bike Transport at which point I headed out for my workout.

The water: well… it’s cold. Fortunately I’ve been in colder water so it wasn’t too much of a shocker but I’m not sure how others are going to like it.

The bike: I rode the first 20 miles of the double loop and as suspected, it’s FAST. I will head out for the next 20 later this week and hopefully it will be equally fast.

The run: I haven’t investigated this yet but I look forward to seeing these “false flats” I’ve been hearing so much about.

All in all, it’s really beautiful up here and it reminds me a lot of Lake Tahoe.
