I just picked up my race packet for my first race of the season on Sunday (second race overall). There are no instructions in the packet, just my swimcap, my regular running race number, and then an 6x11.5 or so sticker with my race number at each end. What's that sticker for? It looks like its intended to be folded over and stuck to my top tube on my bike. Is that possible? - that would drive me crazy!?! Is it for sticking to the setup rack or something?

Yes, that's the sticker required to be on your bike. You can fold it either over your top tube, or around your seat tube sticking out towards the rear of your bike. Either way, it's seriously required.

Got it. After trying it out, I see its smaller than it looked once wrapped around the tube. I for some reason saw it as flapping around in the wind below the tube - but I see now that it will not do so. Thanks for the quick response.

Also, something I do is to just tear off the backing on the two sides, not in the middle. Then you don't totally crud up your bike. You can feed it between your cables to hold it in place, unless you got them new fangled internal cables. Honestly though, I wouldn't tear off the whole backing.

The one good thing about this is that many races require that you match a bike number with a physical bib number in order to leave the transition area after finishing. This helps prevent theft of bikes.

Y, cool enough, the type distributed with the packet had a glue that stuck to itself, but didn't stick to the top tube much. Was all good.

Race report coming soon.

I set mine up on the seat tube pointing backwards.
Ibringscissors and duct tape to trim it down neatly and fit it to where I want to put it.

It was right there in front of me the entire time and I never thought to do that. I get so annoyed with the sticker on the top tube, especially when they are too big and tend to flap in the wind or brush my leg constantly. I usually end up trying to crumple them up once I'm on the course so they collapse on themselves out of my way.

You just made my day

The big one is for the bike tube? Not the helmet? That explains why I couldn't see anything! Thanks all! This is definitely going to help my times.
