Didn't sleep much the night before, but I made sure I got a good nights rest the previous night...so I wasn't too concerned about that. Got up at 3:45 am so we could be out of the house by 4:30 ( we brought our 2 year old with us, so there was a little bit more involved in getting ready). I was really glad that we left that early (the race started at 8 and it was a 2 hour drive), because we got a bit lost and couldn't find the race site. Got to the race site around 7:15, got my packet and got marked up. Set up my transition area just like I'd practiced. Guess this is where my hyper organized side came in handy. The energy at the race site was awesome, I felt more excited then nervous. Finally the race got started around 8:20ish. There was one guy in a wheel chair and they let him go first, to give him a head start. Everyone was standing around cheering and clapping for him. I didn't actually get into the pool after 10ish. I really overestimated my swim time, because I passed a ton of people. Almost collided head first with some one who was on the wrong side of the lane. Actually I think we may have collided, I can't remember. They didn't separate out the transition times from the rest of it so I have no idea how long that took. I just tried to relax and make sure I didn't forget anything. The bike was two loops around a relatively flat course. It was pretty obvious that the bike was my weak link, because I got passed quite a bit. But I just tried to get into my own groove. Got back to the transition area, and got out on the run course. The first 5 minutes or so were a bit rough like I expected. My muscles were sooo sore. But after a bit I started feeling better and passed a couple of people. My big goal was to not have to walk any of it and I didn't (well except for the part where I had to stop and pick up my number because I had to retie it while running...tied it too tight). But I'm not going to count that as walking...hehe I was happy to see the finish line, but also a little bummed that it was over. The high afterwards was the sweetest thing ever! I normally don't smile in pictures, but I'm smiling in every one my hubby got. And I just have to say the triathlete community rocks! It was great to stand at the side of the road once I was done and cheer the people behind me on. ( hey I wasn't last...imagine that) I already have two more I want to do this summer! So anyways there is my race report. Oh yeah should prob include times, which were probably really slow...but I really didn't care. I didn't even start my own timer.

400 yard swim-not sure
7 mile bike- (I think this might also include my swim time since that didn't register) 42.50
2.3 mile run- 20.48

Transition times were included in the bike as well I think...not totally sure
overall time-1:03.38

Nice Job I did the Hopkinton Tri at same day as yours I think. I bet that water was cold. Good luck at your next event. My next event is the half marathon in Boston.

Thanks! How did your race go? The swim was in an indoor pool, so I got lucky there! Actually that was part of why I picked it for my first tri. My next two are going to be open water though, I'm starting to wonder how quickly the water warms up here and if I should start trying to find a wetsuit to rent.

Dollfin04-

My race went well; but the water temp was 55 degrees....damn that is cold. I personally would rent a wetsuit with water temps under 65 IMO (I am a wimp) I say once you start doing Triathlons around the end of June you should be "ok" without a wetsuit. But if you plan on doing triathlons for a few years then I would invest in a wetsuit. Plus it give you so much confidence in open water swims because of the buoyancy.
