I've been asked for this so many times, and well, I like to share, so I'm posting it here so I can just send requesters here to pick up the file.

Attachment is Excel, and the packing list has filters on it (if you don't know what those are read about them in Excel help). All sheets are formatted to print without doing anything.

I have refined the packing list over my last 8 years of triathlon training and racing. While it's from an Ironman perspective, it can be used for shorter distance tris as well, and also serve as a list of things you will need if you decide to step up to Ironman distance. I also have it set up so I remember what to take with me when I drive somewhere to participate in an organized ride, and also what I would typically include in my bike box if I take a bike on a plane.

The other 2 checklists in the file are specifically for Ironman racing and are templates that you would probably modify to suit your needs. But given I've done 10 IM's to date, I think I have this down to a science in terms of what you absolutely need to do. Adjustments may be necessary depending on individual race week schedules. Over the years I have changed my nutrition to mostly just Infinit, but I left other stuff in there that I may have used in the past.

And oh, of course, there is some tongue-in-cheek humor in there. But once you use this, hopefully you will appreciate it!

my helmet got run over once wetting up before race start. Worse than forgetting? Maybe, not good either way. Luckily some guy always carries an extra on our circuit...who packs an extra helmet?

I do...just in case. Also usually 3 pairs of goggles, you never know.

Ahhh. Great! I wanted to get this done but have always been too lazy to do it. Now I don't have to!

I'm the Captain of this ship and I'll do what I dam well please, but I'll check with the Admiral first to see if it's ok.

I once saw a triathlete running around the transition area asking if anyone had a Right Size 10 shoe, apparently he packed as if he had two left feet...
