Quick question to see how common this is, and maybe I have never noticed before this all winter, but I just got off the trainer after a very short 45 minute workout, and I don't think I was really pushing that hard, but darned if I didnt rub up against the fan side of the trainer and IT IS STEAMIN HOT!!! Is this normal? I can understand that it may be warm due to heat dissapation, but this thing felt like it was cooking! Just wondering if others have noticed this and I have just been nieve all winter? Thanks!

I have definitely burned my hand on my trainer before. There is tons of friction building up and for even 45 minutes it gets quite hot. Just avoid contact for a while and you should be fine.

Are you meaning to tell me there's a free heat source in my trainer...I think I might try cooking a post workout meal back there while I'm riding. I would obviously have to guard for sweat, but I think I'm onto something, lol

I can't believe I've never managed to burn myself on my trainer, I tend to cut or burn myself with everything else I come in contact with

Just like when your a kid camping. Wrap the potatoes, veggies and the meat of choice in some aluminum foil, cook, and enjoy!!!

That explains why my tires get "gummy" after a 1-hour ride. Which is way too long on a trainer. Hate it.

I have noticed the heat...it is amazing the amount of energy you can produce.

I actually had a teacher in college who set up his TV to run only off the energy he produced from the trainer. Therefore if his kids wanted to watch TV, they had to ride their bikes while doing it.

I wish i was smart enough to figure that out. I could save some dough on my electric bill with the time i spend on the stupid trainer.

Help me raise money for the LAF by donating anything that you can. Thank you so much!

The trainer basically converts energy into heat... thats why they have all those cooling fins all over the fluid reservoir... to help dissipate the heat easier.

Yep, it's normal as everyone has commented. Try using a stand-alone fan in the room aimed right at the trainer (well, and naturally you then) while you're riding. It helps mine not seem quite so hot when I'm done.

That is the way I determine how good my workout was. How long can I touch the trainer before it really starts to hurt.
