A lot of that thread is specifically related to the question of S-Bends.
Personally, I just recently switched to S-Bends (sort of) from a profile AirStryke and am really happy with the switch. It's all a matter of trying what works for you, though.
I still have "Aerobar modification post" on my to-do list, where I intend to do a full writeup on my aero bars and why I did what I did, but I've been busy with school. The short version, though, is that I used my existing clamps/pads, but replaced the extensions with S-Bends. But none of the S-Bends on the market, I feel, have enough rise, especially for my particular setup. What I did was go to the LBS and find a mountain bike bar with a lot of rise and just a smidgeon of sweep, had them cut it in half at the stem clamp (and yes, they did look at me like I had three heads), and zing - cheapo, super comfortable S-Bends. So if you're looking to try S-Bends and not blow the bank, you might give this a whirl. I bought some other stuff at the same time, so I don't remember exactly how much the bar was, but I want to say $15 or less.

I have been riding standard bend bar for a few year and I am thinking about making the switch. I am look for some input any will sure help. I dont what to just throw money out the door
