So being new to the world of Tri and looking for help i found this wonderful place i also found another forum i really like. You guys are supportive, helpful and just fun to talk to. I also found some really negative forums out there. Has anyone else scene this? At first i was really discouraged by the negative sites and what people had to say on them. I guess this is just my way of saying thanks for keeping my hopes alive that there are good people out there.

If your going to do something wrong enjoy it.

Chris ~ Welcome to Trifuel and to triathlons! In my experience, most triathletes I've met in person (and via Trifuel) are awesome people. Which is why I tend to be shocked by some of the things I saw when I used to visit ST (for example). Soak up all the information you can that's out there, but don't let a few bad examples ruin your perspective on tris or others living in the endurance life around you.

welcome to trifuel! we are definitely friendlier and more fun!

[we do all have our moments...and the online format doesn't always lend itself to nuance. take it with a grain of salt. i think you'll find the tri community pretty supportive in general.]

Glad you joined us and appreciate our community here on Trifuel. There are other good forums out there, but yes there are also some that can get a little ego centric. But as a whole the triathlon "real world" community is very helpful, friendly, and supportive.

In my experience, the triathlon community as a whole is one of the most accepting and friendly. If you were to look at me, the last thing you would think is that I'm involved in triathlon. But I always have tons of people talking to me, and cheering me on during races and what not. This is in contrast somewhat to the cycling community, in my experience. They tend to be more concerned with how lame your bike is and how overweight you are and things of that nature. Anyways, I'm glad I found triathlon, and I'm also glad I found trifuel.

Trifuel does kick butt. It is always super positive and is always good for tons of info and entertainment. Ive only been here a short bit but I love it. A good distraction at work ;)

Welcome!

This is a great cite and a great community. The community on race day is usually just as great and can be even more fun.

By the way, I love that dog.

Welcome. And yes, there never seems to be an ego problem on Trifuel. People here "get it" and most triathletes, in general, understand why we are all in this and what we can do to support and learn from each other.

Sometimes I read the 'other site' to kill time. However, if I'm going to put some thought into advice for a newbie, it will always be for trifuel. People here actually care :-) I know that here if you take the time to post something thats really well thought out, it will be read -- and even if people disagree, it won't be flamed.
