begginers bike choice
i am not sure if i understand your question. are you wondering if this bike is adequate for a triathlon? if that is the question then yes it is totally fine for a tri. people do them on all types of bikes from mountain bikes to $10k speed machines. the nice thing about a road bike is that it does allow you to go on group rides and the like. if this is now what you are asking please clarify.
What is a normal triathlon? The bike seems like an entry level bike. Good enough for doing sprint and whatever a normal triathlon is. I'm assuming you mean an Olympic distance. If you continue to do triathlons (and are like the rest of us), you will ditch the bike for another before the bike comes close to causing you any problems.
I think this is the link you were looking for...

... it has the bike specs as well as the pic.

Yes basitcally that was it, I was wonder if this was a good bike for triathlon and that I will be also be able to do a little progress with this bike. I was wondering because I could proably sell the bike for more than I paid for and get triathlon bike instead if needed since the bike is still brand new.. I'm not looking to get on the national level, I'll be doing it more for the personal challenge and fun.
Yes, an Olympic triathlon will be my objective for the end of the summer after a few sprint triathlons. Wow entry level bike ! and I tought I bought a decent ride!
Thanks for the input.. I'm looking forward to starting training in the pool in 2 weeks.
So the best would be finding syntace bars or something like this for the bike?
You've got to realize that most 'entry level' bikes are still very good machines. They are 'entry level' compared to full carbon, super-light, etc. bikes. This one will probably work just fine for you.
I have a road bike as well, and use syntace aerobars on it.
Good luck swimming!
If you were going to sell the bike, I'd probably recommend another entry level bike. So unless you can sell this one, buy another one and pocket some cash... keep it.
Buying a tri specific bike is not the silver bullet. And if you happen to decide you don't like triathlon, you then have a bike specific for triathlon. In the present situation, you still have a road bike which you can ride around.
It's perfect, don't over analyze it, just ride it and work on that engine. THAT is where you should invest your energy.

Thanks for all the replies and help ! I will most likely keep the bike and use this one.. I was looking at aerobars from all the companies and I nearly crashed off my computer chair with all the crazy prices..
looking forward to trying my first sprint Triathlon.
buy used!
I used a road bike for my first year then bought a tri specific bike. This link was the deciding factor in my decision:

I bought my first road bike this past november, got a great deal on this bike more than half the retail price and taxes included directly at the company / distributor in Montreal. www.opusbike.com the model is Scherzo. http://www.singletrackcycle.com/Bikes/specs/2007/opus/scherzo.jpg
Back then I had no idea that I wanted to start doing a few triathlon.. my objective for this summer is to do 3-4 sprint triathlons and finish it with a normal triathlon. I still want to be able to use the bike and go bike with some friends and do some group ride around here.
Will the bike cause problems? I tried to read a little on the internet but it ended up causing more confusion than any thing else.
Thanks for the info.
