Getting ready for a Hammerfest
eat your wheaties?
Ya wheaties is good - or let some air out of their tires...
Probably let them know that you have some concerns and this way you may not be expected to do many turns pulling and just have concentrate staying with the pack.
Or pound a bunch of gels and caffeine and go hard!

Draft the whole time (just don't use aero bars while drafting or in group riding), and if you find yourself at the front, slow down the pace. Make sure you know the details before the ride: average pace (odometer average), distance, where you are going (take short cuts if you know the route), how to get home if you get dropped, take a cell phone and let someone know you may call them for a pick-up. Ride near someone else who seems to be of the same pace and ask if they know the route. It helps to know a similar rider who knows where he or she is going. Find out beforehand if there there are 'regroups' and 'breaks' and if it is a 'no drop' ride. If they say no to any/all of these, hold on for a rough day. I ride with Cat III and IV roadies and use every trick I listed just to hang on the back for a 1hr 40k.

I've got a hammerfest ride this weekend and I'm a little nervous because it's my first time on a ride like this with my new team members. There are a lot of strong riders here, and while I'm not too bad myself I know it's going to be hard to hang. What kind of recommendations would you guys make for a super strong ride?
