I just got a pair - did my first run in them this weekend - a 6 miler.
They come up a bit high around the ankle and I did have a spot rubbed a bit raw on the inside of the ankle. Only on one ankle, so I need to see if it is just an adjustment to prevent that - otherwise I really liked them. Easy on and off - designed for sockless. Pretty light but responsive. And really like the concept for drainage when they get wet. So I will continue to try them out.

I have a pair, but haven't run in them yet, and probably won't for a little while. Just got my appendix removed, so there will be no running for me...can't wait heal up so I can try these shoes. The technology and innovation in them seems pretty cool...

Ok... I get the drainage thing... but HOW WET do your shoes actually get? I mean, in my opinion, if you're still wet when you get to the run, you're not riding fast enough... :)

Well...I don't ever anticipate running into this problem as I am not fast enough to worry about a pit stop affecting my time all that much. That said, some "wet" doesn't dry as fast as you want it to even if you do ride faster.

Even if that is not something you will ever have to worry about, there are still the puddles at the transitions and the aid stations and the water that gets to your feet when you pour water over your head at an aid station.

Run faster - then you'll sweat more!
Also - ever run in the rain?

I mean... I think it sounds like a great idea, but I just wasn't sure how practical it was. You guys sure showed me! :D

you have to realize that your not really going to be wet from the swim still. It will mostly be from the water you spill over yourself at aide stations, puddles, and a little sweat...I think its very practical because my shoes are always soaked...i guess it depends on how hard you go

I tried them in Kona last year at the demo tent. And then was fortunate enough to get a pair to use in the race. YES! Ran Kona in a new pair of shoes. I did wear sox. LOVED them. Fells like I am pawing at the ground, pulling through. Carbob midsole gives a real responsive feel. GT

Shoes are very personal -- depends on your running style, race length, etc. I have ran in the Zoot shoes and I really like them -- especially for races where I want to go without socks.

I am bringing up this thread : does the Ultra TT by Zoot values its 165 $ (CAD) at my local store? I am trying to convince myself that it is not worth it, since I could buy any Asics, put on some elastic laces, and it will probably do the job for a lot less. Still, they hmm.. look nice and I am looking for you guys opinion!

By the past, I have used Saucony Type A (which I hated!) for triathlon. I run Olympic distance triathlon, HIM and 1-2 marathons a year. Have had a lot of problem with blisters recently... Will my experience be any different with these shoes?

Thanks a lot!

Where are you getting blisters? Are your shoes tight?

Blisters can be a shoe problem, but they can also be an issue with your socks as well. What kind of socks are you wearing? Do you always blister on the same kinds of courses? At what distance?

Hi Shiba,

I have had a few issue of blisters in the past with these shoe, but not as much as recently, i.e. there were blood on my calf after a 20k run. I wore some "under the ankle" socks (don't really know how to call this), but my Achilles tendon was rubbing against my shoes. These are the socks that I usually wear. The shoes are as tight as I could get them, and in fact, I do always get blisters on > 15k with the Saucony's, but never had with another pair of Asics which are currently destroyed.

That's one of the reason why I considered buying the only triathlon shoes that my local store had, except the Noosa. It would be great if you had an answer to this... since nobody in my team could help me out. Thanks a lot!

P.-S - Here is a picture of the blood on the shoes even after I tried to wash it haha!

I can't do those tiny little socks either, same thing happened to me last year (after much shorter distances). Maybe the shoes are too tight?

Zoot shoes...I'll wait a season before I try'em. I'm still smarting (or at least my wallet is) from my Newton experience.

Finally, after trying many shoes at my local store, I left Zoot for next year, because they didn't seem to fit me good enough for this price. I have gone with GEL-DS Trainer 13, which seemed to be perfect... and will still use my Saucony for sprint triathlon, with another pair of socks. I think it was the combination of under-the-ankle-socks and "upper-back" material of the shoes (was quite rigid) that left me with huge blisters.

I would ENJOY trying Newton... but they that have them in here!

Are these Zoot shoes supposed to last as long as a normal pair of training shoes? They were not in the section with the other racing shoes.

They were really comfy when I tried them on. Plus, I just moved from Ohio to Alabama, and I can actually hear the sweat sloshing around in my shoes after about 4 miles. It would be nice for that water to have a place to go. I'm thinking about drilling holes in my current shoes if I don't buy these.

I think any move to the South warrants new shoes, hell, even a whole new wardrobe- I live in Texas and I would use that excuse for sure :)

I'm ordering a pair online. How do these fit in relation to your "normal" shoe size? Should I go a half size up/down or just go with what I wear on normal shoes?

I ordered a pair and desperately wanted them to work, they are light and comfy. Unfortunately, with and without socks I got a massive 2-inch blister (yes, twice!) on the arch of my foot and a blister on the heel...bummer.

I just got a pair of Zoot Tempos. I love them. I pronate a little and these seemed to help with shin pain after an 8-10 mile run. I got mine on E-bay for less than $100.00 delivered. They also run pretty true to size. If this makes any sense, I felt faster just putting them on in my living room. Went outside and I was faster during a 5k tempo run. Wether that was from the shoe or from my brain I really dont care. Perception IS reality.

I guess you didnt need all that detail huh?

Summary: nice shoes

The great thing about trying is that it requires no previous experience

Thanks for the info. I think my next shoe purchase will be a pair of the Tempo+ models. Even if they don't make me faster, like JesseM, I'm happy if I think I'm faster.
