I'm looking to do my first HIM in July, and am looking for advice on training. I plan on doing three days a week of double sessions, swimming and running, but am concerned about fitting two workouts in per day. I am a college student, so my schedule is never consistent. Does anyone have advice on when to do the workouts in the day. Is it better to do them back to back if I'm really busy, or should they always be done separately, with at least a few hours in between to recover? Any help or tips would be appreciated. Thanks, Evan

I would suggest keeping them separate. So you aren't always doing one thing a little fatigued from the other, and can therefore practice good form and not just "get through the training". Back to back is o.k. if necessary but for a half you'll undoubtedly have some long sessions in there so split it up when you can. I swim in the morning and run maybe at lunch or early evening.

i'm doing the same thing (also for a July first time HIM). i am swimming at 5.30a and then running around noon on the swim/run days. i was worried about compounded fatigue, but so far it works pretty well.
