Excuse my ignorance on this but it is better to ask something stupid and know the answer than to not ask and never really know. Flipping through Triathlete magazine I saw an ad with Jone using compression gear from 2XU. I went to their web site and saw that they have tights, shorts, and calf guards. My question is when do you use this stuff ? Racing, Training, Resting, Recovering ? Sleeping ? Any positive or negative feedback on these type of products ? Worth it ?

ive read that compression tights can be good for recovery. but i don't know. haven't tried it but if the pros do it there must be something to it? or maybe she is only doing it because they sponsor her...

I have a couple pairs of compression tights; one which I wear for longer runs and one that I wear if i'm around the house after a tough workout and for sleeping. Tough to say if they work, I had been struggling with an IT band issue for a few months which has gone away. Now whether or not the compression tights have helped that recovery or if it was a result of my PT, ART, foam rolling and 6 weeks of no running (probably this more than anything) i'm not sure but as long as the keep my muscles warm and I don't have any recurring injuries i'll keep using them.

I first used compression socks when I did a marathon in November. They worked great for me and kept my lower legs lactic acid free for 26.2 miles. I have been using them after long runs and rides since then and I feel they truely work. There is a good thread on here where someone posted the true explination of how it works. Try them....it cant hurt.

I would definitely be interested to figure out how tights can actually keep lactic acid from building-up in a certain area of your body.

I mean, this would essentially mean that if you wore a full-body compression suit you would be able to raise your VO2max...

Well I would guess it doesn't prevent the formation of lactic acid, but forces it out of the lower legs to prevent it accumulating there. But I haven't used compression gear so I'm not saying that as a testimony
